Key Points

Do you have a strategy to maneuver around any challenges, or obstacles, that you will encounter on the way to achieving your goals?  You need to identify the key points that will impact your approach and response to unexpected detours on the path to the finish line that signals victory for you.  Consider these types of points when making a decision about what to do next:  view, total, and direction.

Point of View - Others may see things differently than you do.  That is okay.  Your perspective is shaped by your environment, experiences, and expectations.  Be aware that as those three variables change, your outlook on and reactions to situations will also shift.  You can acknowledge another person's point of view without agreeing with it.

Point Total -  In competitive contests, the winner is usually the one that scores the most points.  When you are striving for your dream, your toughest competition is often you.  Give yourself points for knowing and doing the ABCs of achieving your goals - Adaptability, Belief, and Consistency.  Adapt to changing priorities, believe that you can do it, and be consistent with the required work to get what you want.

Point in the Right Direction - When you are unsure of what to do next, it helps to have someone to point you in the right direction.  A trusted advisor can help you decide on an appropriate course of action.  Do you need to turn right on red to avoid distractions?  Maybe you should turn left and pause to review the lessons learned from others.  Or, you can keep straight on your current route to get the results that represent a win for you.

Leave a comment and share what key point stood out to you this week.
